Please join me in welcoming two new members to the Women’s Health Team, Dr. Yvette Williams-Brown and Dr. Stuart Ferriss.
Drs. Williams-Brown and Ferriss, both fellowship-trained gynecologic oncologists, will work in conjunction with the LIVESTRONG Cancer Institutes to develop new models of integrated, value-based care for women with gynecologic malignancies. Critical to this effort is the development of collaborative partnership models across disciplines in the Austin community to ensure the provision of comprehensive, multi-disciplinary cancer care — from screening to diagnosis to survivorship.
Dr. Yvette Williams-Brown comes to the Dell Medical School from Baylor College of Medicine. Dr. Williams-Brown earned her medical degree at Tulane School of Medicine and completed her residency and fellowship at the University of Texas Medical Branch, Galveston.
Her research interests include palliative care and cancer survivorship.
Dr. Stuart Ferriss joins the Dell Medical School from Temple University. Dr. Ferriss earned his medical degree at Louisiana State University, and he completed his residency at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center and his fellowship at the University of Virginia Health System.
He has a strong interest in providing minimally invasive surgical options for patients, including both laparoscopic and robotic procedures.
Drs. William-Brown and Ferriss will also be active participants in the academic missions of the department. They will participate in the development of a robust curriculum in undergraduate and graduate medical education focused on inter-professional, team-based care, and they will play an important role in the longer term goal of initiating a gynecologic oncology fellowship. They will also contribute to the department’s investigational pursuits.
This is a very exciting step in our journey to promote health and provide comprehensive healthcare services to the women of Central Texas, across the span of their lives.
